Singer/Songwriter GERRY RAFFERTY, former member of STEALERS WHEEL has died. The man behind such 70's hits as "Baker Street" and "Right Down the Line" was said to have suffered kidney failure last November after fighting a long and largely ignored battle with alcoholism. The UK outlet The Guardian confirmed Rafferty's death this morning, and has posted an excellent career overview which can be read at this location.
While Rafferty's songs have been covered and paid homage many times over the years, his original works have long-been a staple in popular culture, most notably with his STEALERS WHEEL hit "Stuck in the Middle With You," which was featured in an infamous torture scene in QUENTIN TARANTINO's 1992 film RESERVOIR DOGS.
